Nona FC Travels to Sporting Jax for Midweek Clash

LAKE NONA — Nona FC returns to action Wednesday, June 17, as the Longhorns travel to Jacksonville to take on Sporting Jax at Mandarin High School Stadium.

The Longhorns enter the matchup looking to bounce back from their first loss of the 2026 season, a 2-1 defeat to Brave SC in the second edition of the Rodeo Derby. Defender Tim Brdaric scored his first goal for the Black and Orange in the match, heading home a Basit Umar cross to temporarily level the score before Brave SC reclaimed the lead in the second half.

Despite the setback, Nona FC remains firmly in the Southeast Division playoff race with 10 points through seven matches. The Longhorns currently sit second in the standings and will look to regain first place with a positive result in Jacksonville.

Wednesday's contest marks the 11th all-time meeting between Nona FC and Sporting Jax. The Longhorns hold a 3-5-2 record in the series and are still searching for their first victory over Sporting Jax since the club's rebrand from Florida Elite Soccer Academy in January 2025.

The most recent meeting between the two sides came on May 26 at Austin-Tindall Sports Complex. Nona FC controlled much of the match and outshot Sporting Jax 12-2 but was unable to find a breakthrough, settling for a scoreless draw.

Sporting Jax enters Wednesday's matchup in fourth place in the Southeast Division standings with eight points through eight matches. The Jacksonville side has recorded one victory and five draws this season and enters the contest following consecutive home draws against Shark Coast FC, 1-1, and Inter Gainesville KF, 0-0.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday from Mandarin High School Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. The match will be streamed on sportsengineplay.com.
