LAKE NONA — Following a late 1-1 draw in its season opener against Brooke House FC, Nona FC returns home Wednesday, May 20, for its 2026 home opener against Shark Coast FC at Austin-Tindall Sports Complex.
The Longhorns opened the new campaign Saturday with a hard-fought point in the first Orlando Derby of the season, conceding a late equalizer in Winter Park after holding a second-half lead deep into the match. Midfielder Abdou Mane created multiple dangerous chances early in the match, including a free kick that struck the crossbar in the 20th minute, while forward Fabio Bozesan scored from the penalty spot in the 77th minute to record his first goal for the Black and Orange on his club debut.
Despite the late equalizer, Nona FC enters Wednesday’s match with several positive trends on its side. The Longhorns remain unbeaten in USL League Two home openers, holding a 3-0-1 all-time record, while also boasting a 4-0-1 record when coming off a draw in their previous match.
Wednesday’s contest will also mark the first-ever meeting between Nona FC and Shark Coast FC. Established in 2024 and playing its first USL League Two season in 2026, Shark Coast opened its campaign with a 1-1 draw against Sporting Jax after a pair of second half goals, mirroring Nona FC’s opening result. Midfielder Dominik Topolsky scored Shark Coast’s lone goal, marking the club’s first-ever goal in semi-pro competition.
The two sides are set to meet three times during the 2026 regular season, with the following matchups scheduled for June 6 and June 27, both in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
Wednesday night will also serve as Academy Night for Nona FC, as the club celebrates the continued connection between Nona Soccer Academy and the Black and Orange’s USL League Two side. The 2026 squad features multiple players with academy ties, including Sebastian Arismendi, Sebastian Ardila, Fernando Doria, Pedro Kruschewsky, Ansel Ledezma, Sebastian Gonzalez, and Moah Silva.
Kickoff for Wednesday’s home opener is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at Austin-Tindall Sports Complex, in Lake Nona. The match will be streamed on sportsengineplay.com.
