Andre Navas' Half-Volley Edges Nona FC Past Inter Gainesville KF, 1-0

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - “The vision is becoming a reality,” Nona FC owner Fabio Silva said back in May, as the 2025 season kicked off with five Nona Soccer Academy players on the roster.

That vision came to life on the scoresheet Saturday night, as Nona Soccer Academy products Andre Navas and Moah Silva combined for the lone goal in Nona FC’s 1–0 win over Inter Gainesville KF (4-7-0, Southeast Division) at the University of Florida.

The goal marked the first time ever that two Nona Soccer Academy players have connected to score a goal for the USL League Two team.

Free-kick maestro Alan Martinez, who scored brilliantly from a set piece in the previous match against Brevard SC, stepped up again in the 51st minute from a dangerous area.

His curling delivery found Silva, whose header rattled the crossbar. The rebound fell to Navas, who made no mistake, smashing a half-volley into the roof of the net for the first game-winner of his career.

With the victory, Nona FC (7-4-0, Southeast Division) advanced to 21 points on the season, sitting in third place in the division standings.

The Longhorns have notched back-to-back clean sheets for the first time since the opening matches of the season, a 2–0 win over Brevard SC and a 3–0 win over Brooke House FC.

Their clean sheet tally now leads the Southeast Division with six, tying the single-season club record set in both 2022 and 2023.

The Black and Orange have also won consecutive matches for the third time this season.

Nona FC will close out its season at home on Monday, July 13, returning to Austin-Tindall Sports Complex for a rescheduled matchup with Inter Gainesville KF, originally slated for July 3.
